Björn is the quality fanatic among our coaches. As the Managing Consultant of trendig technology services GmbH, he has over 15 years of experience in both English and German projects within agile as well as traditional organisations. His work continues to focus on software quality assurance, integrated technology and operations (ITOps), IT service management (ITIL), test management, test data management, test infrastructure management and mobile application testing in small-scale through to major projects. Björn has helped co-develop several training courses in areas including security engineering and mobile app testing, and, as a scrum master, is an experienced team teacher and popular coach. He has wide-ranging industry experience, from financial service providers and energy suppliers through to e-commerce, healthcare and online marketing providers. Björn also heads up our mobile app testing lab.
When Björn isn’t working as a coach and consultant, he likes to put on his hiking boots and set off for several weeks on tours of distant parts of Asia. No matter whether it’s gathering honey from wild bees or climbing in the Himalayas – Björn’s travel experiences are at least as special and varied as his experience gained during everyday working life, which he is happy to share with his course participants when coaching. Björn feels it is important that the training courses provide participants with lots of useful things they can apply in their work, and that they enjoy learning with and from one another.
To ensure this happens, it is important for the coach to occasionally put on the brakes, he says. That’s because too much detail can sometimes scare off those participants who first have to familiarise themselves with the subject matter. It is therefore important, says Björn, to be a human first, and a coach second.
